2A Bug List
"Bug" List
1. When people get out of a hot shower, often times it is extremely cold, and the towel does not make it any warmer.
This exists because of the temperature change between the water and the air.
2. Plastic straws are harming the environment and permeant straws like metal straws are unrealistic.
This exists because wasted plastic harms animals and creates pollution and people do not want to carry around a permeant straw everywhere they go.
3. Homes with multiple dogs or cats can't train the animals which food and water bowl to eat out of. They end up sharing the food.
This exists because the animals are not as smart as humans, and their instinct is not starve.
4. Freshman college students often don't know where classrooms are when they first get to school.
This exists because it is the students first time taking classes at the campus while other students have been their for multiple semesters.
5. When at a sporting event in a large stadium, the lines are usually very long and you can miss some of the game waiting.
This exists because stadiums now hold so many people, and most people want food or drink.
6. The traffic light on 34th and University creates a backup that can last as long as three light cycles during rush hour.
These are two of the biggest streets in Gainesville, Fl and which causes cars to back up.
7. When it is extremely hot or cold outside, the inside of a car gets extremely hot or cold.
Cars sometimes sit in a parking lot for the entire day sitting in the hot or cold weather.
8. The line at the library west library on UF's campus gets extremely long during finals week and the week before.
This is caused by all of the students who are studying for their exams those weeks.
9. Nice restaurants often will not spilt the check between friends.
This is makes it easier on the restaurant, but an apple application idea could fix this.
10. Often times in class, professors willow allow students to use their electronics.
While teachers but the responsibility on students, sometimes the temptation to use electronics for other things during class can win during a long class.
11. Moving into an apartment that is on a top floor on a building can be a tiring an long process.
Moving in furniture and cloths while having to walk up numerous sets of stairs is not easy.
12. I-75 has many parts of it on the way to Tampa that are only two lanes.
This is due to the construction on the highway that has been going on for years.
13. Often time companies that have a monthly subscription can raise prices without subscribers even realizing.
This happens because people do check their emails as much as they should or it is written in "fine print" somewhere.
14. Email accounts can often get overflowed by unimportant things making it hard to find the emails that are important.
We sign our emails up for many things that sometimes we don't we even notice.
15. The chip on debit and credit cards can often break when it is slid in and out of wallets too many times.
This is caused by use of the card which will eventually start to malfunction.
16. Watching TV can be hindered when commercials come on every five minutes.
This is caused the nation needing revenue and hiring advertisers. Again, an apple application could fix this.
17. When traveling via a plane, going through security can be a long time with many inconveniences.
Even though security is important, the unexpected can caused miss flights.
18. Tailgates for big events at UF are often left with a lot of garbage around the campus.
This is from the amount of people who come and drink, eat and sit around for hours before the game and then try to beat traffic when leaving the game.
19. During thunderstorms, some pet animals can get scared, sometimes causing a bad reaction.
This is because the animals do not know what is going on and can sense the storm.
20. The amount of gas stations surrounding the UF campus is extremely slim. Outside of the 4 that I know of, it can be hard to find some gas stations.
This is because the surrounding area thinks that college students don't use cars as much.

ReplyDeleteYou seem to be quite aware of the world around you, as you came up with some very interesting bugs in your list. Funny enough, I do not think our posts have even one item in common! To improve your post, I would add a little more structure, such as using bulleted lists instead of just adding a number per line. I would also remark the “why” part to make it more clear and easier to follow. Last, make sure you run your text through a spell checker. Unsolicited advice: I typically write my posts in MS Word, where I can (ab)use the fancy formatting and also spell-check my lousy writing before copy-pasting into the blog publishing form. Besides my comments, great job and keep finding opportunities for improvement around you.

ReplyDeleteGreat list of things that bug you. I relate to a lot of things on your list, I just didn't think of them myself! Was it hard for you to think of 20 things? I struggled after the first 7. I noticed that after a few days of paying more attention to the things that bug me helped a lot! Which bug do you think bothers you the most? From your list, the ones that I relate to the most are numbers 9 and 11. When studying abroad, restaurants often never split checks and it was so hard for us traveling in groups. Last year, I lived on the top floor of an apartment complex where there was no elevator. It was a pain moving in and out.

ReplyDeleteI definitely found myself relating to a lot of the things you listed here. Many of them are so detailed and specific to Gainesville and UF that I think many students would also agree with a few, especially the one about the lines of traffic at the lights on 34th and University. What was your thought process in coming up with such distinguishing events? I definitely struggled at first. My only recommendation would be to expand a little bit more on the 'why' portion of your list. I agree with just about every annoyance on your list but would like to know a little more about why they bug you specifically. Other than that, you did a great job with this assignment!
Eric, your third bug on the list isn't true in my case. I've always wondered how my two dogs never eat out of each others bowls and then just thought that this was the case with all dogs. Its funny to see that this is on your list too because it would annoy me if one of my dogs was stealing food from the other. My dog also gets really scared during storms. I do hate this because he is always getting scared for the fireworks or for thunder.
