11A Idea Napkin No 1

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
My name is Eric Wendell. I am a junior at the University of Florida interested in getting involved in consulting or marketing. Some of my skills are leadership, creativity, and I am people oriented. If I started this business I think that it would take over my life at first. It would be a lot of work and I would also need to bring in trustworthy people.

2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
I am offer an mobile application called "Don't Wait." The applications main use will be to track the lines outside of bars and restaurants in college towns and other big party cities. The app will monitor wait times, and give them option to reserve spots in line so people can wait in line from there home. Also, with participating bars you will be able eo earn rewards which can lead to prizes and certain bars.

3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?

My customers will be majority college students or people who live in major cities like New York or Chicago. Colleges around the country have a strip of bars right off of campus. These lines are notoriously long due to the amount of students in such a small area of land.

Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.

Customers will pay to use this because they are tired of waiting an hour just  to get into a bar. I know many people who leave Midtown at UF right when they get there just because the lines are so long. Bars want to solve this problem and this application could do it.

What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
The thing that sets this idea apart from the competition is the reserving your spot feature. Participating Bars will have a separate line for people who checkin early on their phone. All you will have to do is show them your phone has the application has already verified that the user is of legal drinking age.

  1. Hey Eric!

I am also a junior here at UF who is a people person. I enjoy being able to communicate with others in a creative manner and I think your business idea is very reflective of this. An application such as "Don't Wait" is definitely something that thousands of people, both in and out of college, would make great use of. Popular bars and restaurants are constantly packed with people and an app that allows those people to be able to communicate quickly and effectively would be very helpful. Nice work!

  3. Hi Eric!

I think your business concept is great! I think the feature of reserving your spot would make the app very attractive for users. It is similar to call ahead seating at restaurants and it works really well. I believe your creative skills will help you produce the perfect app as you already have some excellent features.
