27A- Reading Reflection 3

For the reading reflection, I read "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" by Peter Drucker.
1. The general theme of this book was explaining how entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship thrives with innovation and the steps entrepreneurs need to take. He breaks it down into three sections: practicing innovation, practicing entrepreneurship, and strategies. Through these parts he breaks down how entrepreneurs should explore opportunity and always be looking for a way to "exploit change" in society in the form of a product or service that will solve peoples unmet needs.
2. I think this book went right along with the course. Throughout the course we have talked about and completed blog posts about finding the right opportunity and innovation. Through out our blog posts, we have been innovating a new idea that we think will meet peoples unmet needs. This book explains how one should go about doing this.
3. If I had to make an assignment for the book, I would separate the assignment into the three sections mentioned above. First the student would have to think of an innovative idea that they think could turn into a product or a service. Then, under each section of the book, they would have to answer questions relating to the innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategies they plan on implementing while creating this product or service.
4. The part of the book that shocked me the most was at the end. He explains that he believes innovation and entrepreneurship are a key part to society. While I agree with him, I had never thought of this way before. Without innovation, we would not have many of the live saving products we have today.

  1. Hi Eric,
This book sounds really interesting! I think the fact that it breaks down the parts of entrepreneurship is so great! I also agree that Entrepreneurship and innovation are a key part of society. Without these things our society would never change.
